Janneke Wit holds a PhD in Molecular Evolutionary Biology and is affiliated with Aalborg University as a Research Fellow in the Functional Ecology and Genomics group within the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience. Her work bridges genomics, parasitology, and evolutionary biology, focusing on anthelmintic resistance in nematodes and genetic variation in model organisms.
Her research spans nematode genetics, drug response mechanisms, and population genomics. Key themes include anthelmintic resistance pathways, lifespan variation in Drosophila, and the role of wild hosts in livestock parasite transmission. She has developed critical genomic tools like ITS2 sequence databases and pioneered deep amplicon sequencing for resistance screening.
Scientific awards include a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her publications in journals like International Journal for Parasitology and PLOS ONE highlight collaborations with institutions in the UK, Canada, and Denmark. She has contributed to 20+ publications with a focus on helminth parasites and C. elegans.
