Rebecca MacPherson

Rebecca MacPherson is an Associate Professor in Health Sciences at Brock University's Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. Her research examines metabolic diseases including obesity, insulin resistance, and Alzheimer's disease, focusing on exercise/nutrition interventions for brain health.

Teaches Human Anatomy, Human Pathology, and Pathophysiology of the Metabolic Syndrome. Research explores amyloid precursor protein processing, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and thermogenesis. Actively recruits MSc/PhD students and undergraduate researchers.

Publications investigate exercise-induced neuroprotection, metabolic syndrome pathways, and adipose-brain crosstalk. Recent work demonstrates exercise modulation of BDNF signaling and APP processing. Professional affiliations include CSEP, ACSM, and SONA.
