معرفی
Dr. Rebecca M Jones is a Lecturer in the School of Biosciences at Aston University, part of the College of Health and Life Sciences. She leads the Biosciences Research Group (BRG) and focuses on DNA replication processes in healthy and disease contexts. Previously, she held senior postdoctoral roles at the University of Birmingham from 2016–2024.
Education: PhD Biochemistry (University of Sheffield, 2010), BSc (Hons) Biochemistry (Lancaster University, 2006). Teaching credentials include Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2023) and Associate Fellow (2018).
Research Interests: Her work investigates DNA replication stress, replication-associated DNA damage, and their roles in cancer and progeroid syndromes. Techniques used include immunofluorescence microscopy, chromatin isolation, and cell viability assays.
Recent Articles: Focus on replisome disassembly mechanisms, TRAIP’s role in resolving replication-transcription conflicts, and DNA synthesis dynamics in human cells. Most recent works include a 2024 review on replisome termination and 2024/2023 studies on replisome structure and function.
Lab Members: Current team includes Dr. Olivia Hawkins (Postdoc analyzing nuclear membrane composition) and Anika Khan (summer student exploring gemcitabine resistance). Funding partners include the Aston Institute for Membrane Excellence and The Royal Society.
Labs/Teams: Active within the Biosciences Research Group (BRG) at Aston University.
