Rebecca Janes serves as Visiting Lecturer in Music (Ballet) and Codirector of the Jacobs Academy Ballet Program at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.
Her professional foundation stems from intensive early training under her mother Cindy Carmazzi and at premier institutions including Dayton Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and Ballet Met.
Specializing in classical and contemporary repertoire, Janes excels in full-length narrative ballets and works by master choreographers. Her pedagogical approach integrates performance expertise with certified Romana Pilates and Progressing Contemporary Technique methodologies to develop comprehensive dancer training.
Her accolades include:
- Josie Award for Most Outstanding Female Performer (1999)
Since retiring from performance in 2012, she has mentored students through teaching appointments at Chautauqua Dance Program, Charlotte Ballet Academy, and Jacobs Academy Ballet. Her administrative leadership as Codirector shapes the pre-collegiate training program within the Jacobs School of Music.
Current artistic direction focuses on ballet pedagogy innovation and choreographic development through the Jacobs Academy Ballet Program.
