Robin Hoover Allen

Robin Hoover Allen serves as Visiting Lecturer in Music (Ballet) and Codirector of the Jacobs Academy Ballet Program at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, holding faculty positions since 2018 with senior faculty status in Jacobs Academy Ballet since 2017.

Her academic credentials include:

• Bachelor of Science in Ballet and Human Biology from Indiana University
• Master of Science in Ballet from Indiana University
• Specialized training in Paul Taylor technique under Susan McGuire, Marcus Schulkind, Mark Morris, and Violette Verdy

Allen's expertise spans Ballet Pedagogy, Classical and Contemporary Ballet instruction, and Creative Movement curriculum development for young children with pre-ballet focus. She integrates somatic practices through her certified Yoga instruction, having developed the Jacobs School's "Mindful Movement through Yoga" program specifically for musicians' physical wellness. Her professional background in dance injury management stems from managing PT Plus Physical Therapy at NYC's City Center for the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries.

As an educator, Allen founded Bloomingdance ballet school (2008-2017) at Harmony School, taught Boston Ballet's Children's Program and CityDance outreach initiative, and served as grant writer and archivist for Violette Verdy at Harvard. Her current responsibilities include directing Jacobs Academy's ballet curriculum while maintaining clinical partnerships in dancer health.
