Dr. DICKASON's research focuses on the intersection of emotions and organizational behaviors, with particular emphasis on quality of life at work, occupational health, public health, transitions and resilience in workplace contexts, and relationships to time and space including despatialization and teleworking. Her work demonstrates a strong connection between emotional labor theory and practical healthcare settings, examining how professionals manage emotional demands in high-stress environments, particularly in hospital contexts where confrontation with death and emotional regulation present unique challenges.
Her recent publications from 2023-2024 reveal a consistent focus on emotional labor in healthcare settings, with particular attention to hospital workers' experiences during and after the pandemic. She explores innovative approaches to emotional intelligence training, the spatial dimensions of emotional work, and the connections between emotional labor, trauma, and resilience. Her research frequently employs interdisciplinary methods, combining organizational theory with healthcare practice to develop practical applications for improving workplace health and emotional management.
