Rebecca Cherian is an Artist Lecturer in Trombone at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music. She serves as Co-Principal Trombone of the Pittsburgh Symphony and is a founding board member of the International Women's Brass Conference (IWBC), where she edited the newsletter for four years. Her career began at age 16 with the San Jose Symphony, followed by solo performances with the San Francisco Symphony after winning their Young Musicians' Awards. She holds a B.M. from the California Institute of the Arts and an M.M. from Yale School of Music, where she received notable awards in brass and chamber music.
Before joining Carnegie Mellon, Cherian held positions as Principal Trombone with the Springfield Symphony and Rhode Island Philharmonic, and taught at the Hartt School of Music and Wesleyan University. Her expertise spans orchestral performance, brass pedagogy, and advocacy for women in music.
