Dr. Rebecca C. Ruehle is an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Business Ethics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam's School of Business and Economics, within the Management and Organisation department. Her research focuses on ethical implications of nudging in corporate contexts, multi-stakeholder initiatives, and digital technology impacts. She holds a PhD from the University of Halle-Wittenberg (2020) and prior roles include visiting scholar at Tilburg University, lecturer in philosophy at Mannheim, and IBM Corporate Citizenship support roles.
Education includes an MLitt in Moral Philosophy (St Andrews), MA in Management (Mannheim), and a Bachelor's in International Business (DHBW Stuttgart, co-organized with IBM Germany). She contributed to designing an online course on behavioral business ethics and led the managing committee of sneep e.V., a German-speaking student ethics network (2016–2019).
Key grants include a 2020–2022 ZonMw/NWO project on vulnerable populations during the pandemic. Awards include the Society for Business Ethics Emerging Scholars Award (2019) and recognition for outstanding peer review (2023). Projects include studies on digital care systems for elderly populations and crisis response mechanisms.
