Rebecca Addo

Dr. Rebecca Addo is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Her work focuses on Health Technology Assessment (HTA), priority setting in healthcare systems, and the application of HTA methods in developing countries. She holds a PhD in Health Economics from UTS and a Master of Public Health from the University of Ghana. Dr. Addo’s research bridges clinical practice and policy, with a particular emphasis on improving health outcomes in resource-constrained settings.

Her current roles include evaluating economic submissions for Australia’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), as well as contributing to international projects such as developing EQ-5D-5L value sets for Ghana. She collaborates with global researchers and agencies, including the Singapore Agency for Care Effectiveness and the EuroQol Research Foundation. Dr. Addo also teaches health economics courses at UTS and has prior experience as a nurse and lecturer in Ghana.

Her research interests span health system efficiency, equity in healthcare access, and the adaptation of HTA methodologies to low-resource environments. Notable projects include assessing the feasibility of HTA in Ghana, analyzing cost-effectiveness of treatments (e.g., tamoxifen for breast cancer), and evaluating the impact of speech pathology services on criminal justice outcomes.

Dr. Addo has contributed to funded research initiatives such as the EQ-5D-5L value set development for Ghana, the review of chemotherapy funding arrangements, and studies on health technology assessment methods. Her work emphasizes the importance of context-specific data transformation to ensure relevance in economic evaluations.
