Rebecca A. Reid serves as an Associate Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She additionally holds the prestigious position of Patti and Paul Yetter Center for Law Research Fellow, highlighting her significant contributions to legal scholarship and research.
Dr. Reid's research centers on judicial politics, comparative courts, international law, human rights, indigenous law, and the rule of law. Her scholarly work examines judicial decision-making processes, judicial independence mechanisms, colonization effects on legal systems, indigenous law frameworks, democratization processes, judicial diversification efforts, and the complex interactions between international and domestic legal systems. She pays particular attention to international and foreign legal citations, transnational advocacy networks, and state compliance with international legal standards.
