Brent McCune is an Assistant Director and Lecturer at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts. He holds academic roles in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and the Masters of Leadership Studies (MLS) program. His responsibilities include teaching in the LSPI College Summer Program, managing LSAT tutoring, serving as the principal prelaw advisor for the Patti and Paul Yetter Center for Law, and conducting data collection/analysis. McCune earned a BS and MS in Economics from the University of Utah and UTEP, respectively, followed by a JD from the S.J. Quinney College of Law (University of Utah), graduating with honors.
His research interests span legal education, public policy, regional economics, and judicial processes, reflected in courses like 'Judicial Process' and 'Leadership in Complex Organizations.' He has received grants supporting initiatives such as the Law School Preparation Institute Summer College Program (AccessLex Institute) and the City of El Paso’s Urban and Regional Planning program.
Awarded the 2004 Outstanding Thesis Award and a James Foundation Scholarship, McCune’s work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to legal and administrative leadership. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels, including specialized topics in law, politics, and public administration.
