His educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Macquarie University
- Ph.D. in Economics from Macquarie University
LI's research centers on applied econometrics and energy economics, with specialized focus on energy demand modeling, pricing mechanisms, and market integration studies. His work examines renewable energy dynamics in Texas and U.S. electricity markets while addressing climate change adaptation through the Climate Change Adaptation Resilience and Recovery Network, directly contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals for affordable clean energy and climate action.
Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal a concentrated research trajectory analyzing solar/wind energy economics, electricity procurement strategies, and outage cost estimation. This body of work demonstrates consistent methodological rigor in energy econometrics with practical policy implications for renewable energy integration and market design.
LI actively mentors PhD students and serves as Co-Investigator on the active project Retail Investor Outcomes in Spot Crypto Markets (2025-2026), examining cryptocurrency investor behavior and market impacts. His research has received consistent institutional support across multiple funding cycles.
As a member of the Climate Change Adaptation Resilience and Recovery Network, LI participates in interdisciplinary teams addressing energy transition challenges through empirical economic analysis and policy-oriented research.
