Furong Li is a Professor in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath. She is affiliated with the Centre for Doctoral Training in Decarbonisation of the Built Environment (dCarb), Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems (SES), and the IAAPS Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change. She serves as Editor for IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy.
Education: PhD in Electrical Engineering (Optimal Operation of Electrical Power Systems with Genetic Algorithms, 1996) and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Hohai University.
Research focuses on smart grid modeling, energy market economics, and sustainable energy systems. Her work addresses grid operation, renewable integration, and data-driven efficiency improvements. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy.
Key projects include the Supergen Energy Networks Hub Renewal (EPSRC-funded), RESILIENT KENYA (BEIS-funded), and capacity-building initiatives in China’s power markets. She has secured grants from UKRI, Foreign Commonwealth Office, and others.
