Raymond Balise is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Previously, he served as a Biostatistician, Senior Lecturer, and Project Director at Stanford University School of Medicine for 17 years.
- Education: PhD in Experimental Psychology (1996), MA in Psychology (1994), and dual BA degrees in Linguistics and Psychology (1990) from the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Balise specializes in biostatistics, data science, and statistical programming, with a focus on medical research and public health applications. His work spans health disparities, cancer epidemiology, substance use disorders, and HIV/mental health intersections.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in applying artificial intelligence to implementation science, modeling substance abuse patterns, and developing stigma assessment tools. He co-authored the book Presenting Medical Statistics from Proposal to Publication, emphasizing data visualization and analysis.
