Ray Jayawardhana is the University Provost and Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University. He previously served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Cornell University and Dean of Science at York University. He holds a PhD from Harvard University and a BS from Yale University.

His research focuses on exoplanets, the diversity and evolution of planetary systems, and the formation of stars and brown dwarfs. He uses large telescopes to study exoplanet atmospheres and is part of the James Webb Space Telescope’s NIRISS instrument team.
Notable Research: Recent work includes a paper analyzing disks of young planetary-mass objects, leveraging Spitzer data for James Webb Space Telescope observations.
