Jason Rowe is an Assistant Professor at Bishop's University and holds the Canada Research Chair in Exoplanet Astrophysics. He is affiliated with the SETI Institute and has been involved with NASA's Kepler Mission and the MOST Mission. Previously, he worked at the Université de Montréal as a research scientist on the JWST NIRISS team. He serves on the CASCA Joint Committee on Space Astronomy and is a CASCA Westar Lecturer.
His research focuses on detecting and characterizing exoplanets, including their atmospheres and climates, leveraging advanced instrumentation such as the James Webb Space Telescope. He also investigates astrobiology and stellar astrophysics, contributing to the broader understanding of planetary systems.
Dr. Rowe received the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal in 2016 for his work on the Kepler mission. He actively mentors graduate students, including Déreck-Alexandre Lizotte (PhD, co-advised with David Lafrenière) and Michael Matesic (PhD, co-advised with Laurence Perreault-Levasseur). His collaborations extend to international teams, such as co-supervising Vera Passegger’s MSc at the University of Vienna.
Rowe is part of the Institute for Research on Exoplanets (iREx) and contributes to space astronomy initiatives through his involvement with missions like the James Webb Space Telescope and the MOST satellite.
