Ravikanth Maddipati, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, affiliated with the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases and the Children’s Medical Center Research Institute. He holds academic appointments in Cancer Biology, Genetics, and Developmental & Disease programs. His research focuses on pancreatic cancer heterogeneity, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance, combining multi-omics approaches, genetically engineered mouse models, and clinical specimens. Maddipati’s clinical expertise includes pancreatic disorders, gastrointestinal malignancies, and gastroenterology.
Education: BSE in Computer & Electrical Engineering (University of Michigan, magna cum laude), MS in Biomedical Engineering (University of Michigan), MD (Boston University School of Medicine, with honors), Internal Medicine residency (Massachusetts General Hospital), and Gastroenterology fellowship (University of Pennsylvania).
Research interests span tumor microenvironment dynamics, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and the functional consequences of cellular heterogeneity. Collaborations include the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Hamon Center for Therapeutic Oncology Research.
Publications highlight contributions to understanding MYC-driven metastasis, radiotherapy strategies in oligometastatic disease, and immune mechanisms in pancreatic cancer. The Maddipati Lab actively develops novel therapies targeting tumor heterogeneity and metastatic progression.
Professional affiliations include the American Association for Cancer Research, American Gastroenterological Association, and American Pancreatic Association.
