Rashid Bashir serves as an Associate Professor of geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineering in the Civil Engineering Department at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from McMaster University, specializing in contaminant hydrogeology and computational mechanics, and brings over 14 years of combined academic and industry expertise in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, Mine Hydrogeology, and Computational Mechanics.

His educational foundation includes advanced computational modeling for contaminant transport in unsaturated soils developed during doctoral studies at McMaster University, directly enabling his practical contributions to soil cover design for global tailings and landfill facilities.
