Nilan Jayasiri Mudiyanselage

Nilan Jayasiri Mudiyanselage is a Researcher in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering at the University of Western Australia (UWA), affiliated with the School of Engineering. His work addresses critical challenges in mine closure and geotechnical engineering.

• Education: BSc(Eng) and MEng(Geotech) from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand

His research focuses on mine tailings stabilisation, mine waste management, soft soil engineering, and soft ground tunnelling. He has pioneered the use of electrokinetic geosynthetics for mine waste dewatering and stabilization, as well as advanced finite element modeling for tunnel infrastructure analysis.

His peer-reviewed publications include studies on electroosmotic dewatering, tunnel cross-passage design, and piled raft foundations. These works highlight interdisciplinary applications in mining engineering, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering.
