Maryam Abdolahpour is a researcher at the UWA Oceans Institute, University of Western Australia. Her work focuses on hydrodynamics, coastal and offshore engineering, with expertise in fluid-roughness interactions, Vortex-Induced Vibration (VIV) of subsea pipelines, and natural-based solutions for coastal erosion protection. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA, UK), recognizing her teaching excellence in higher education.
- Research Interests: Coastal processes, offshore engineering, sediment transport, scour protection, and environmental fluid mechanics.
- Awards: AFHEA (2021), Ocean Supporters Fund award (2021), and Artificial seagrass mattresses for scour protection (2018).
Her research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly addressing environmental challenges in coastal zones. Key projects include the Barossa Project erosion testing (2022) and studies on sea-level rise impacts in estuaries. Over 18 publications highlight her focus on subsea structures, wave dynamics, and vegetation effects in aquatic canopies.
