Raphael D. Florestal-Kevelier

Raphael D. Florestal-Kevelier is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the School of Public Health, University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). He serves as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Health & Wellness and Executive Director of the UIC Counseling Center, integrating academic scholarship with leadership in student wellness.

Dr. Florestal-Kevelier's research and practice focus on student well-being, health equity in higher education, and the academic and social experiences of Black queer and transgender students. His work emphasizes cultivating health-promoting campus environments and advancing equity in college health services.

His professional contributions are recognized through awards such as the 2022 Hannibal E. Howell, Jr. Award and the 2017 Southern College Health Association New Professional Award. He holds leadership roles in the American College Health Association, including Board of Directors Member-at-Large for Advocacy and Chair of the Health Promotion Section.
