Randelle Kirkemo, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor and the School Counseling Program Coordinator at the Attallah College of Educational Studies, Chapman University. A proud alumna of Chapman’s MA in Counseling program, she brings over a decade of K–12 school counseling experience to her academic role, with a focus on alternative education settings.

Dr. Kirkemo's research and practice are centered on trauma-informed and healing-centered approaches in schools. She emphasizes the role of school counselors in supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and college/career development, particularly through restorative relationships and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Her work highlights the educational journeys of marginalized and traumatized youth, advocating for systemic change in K–12 counseling practices.
She teaches key courses such as Career Counseling and Development, Best Practices in School Counseling, and School Counseling Internship and Practicum Fieldwork. As a mentor in both the school counseling and school psychology programs, she actively supports student development beyond the classroom.
Dr. Kirkemo is a trained member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and integrates evidence-based practices into both instruction and program coordination. Her leadership ensures that Chapman’s school counseling program remains aligned with current educational and psychological standards.
She is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and transformative educational experience for her students, reflecting her own positive journey as a Chapman graduate.
