Dr. Ramona Gonzalez, known professionally as Nite Jewel, is a musician, multimedia artist, and scholar affiliated with Occidental College. As a Professor of Songwriting, she teaches music production, contemporary popular music, and music industry studies. Her academic research focuses on the revitalization of women's lament practices in modern pop music, detailed in her forthcoming dissertation Why Sad Song?: Women's Laments in Popular Music.
