Carla Hassett is a Professor of Commercial Music at California State University, Los Angeles. A Los Angeles-based artist, she is a singer, songwriter, producer, session vocalist, and music educator. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, and raised in Chicago, she began her career as a studio vocalist and jingle singer. She has performed with renowned artists such as Billy Idol, Sergio Mendes, Mike Patton, and REO Speedwagon, and toured internationally with acts like Curiosity Killed the Cat. Her work spans film scores (e.g., Oscar-nominated Rio), television (e.g., The Tonight Show), and albums including her self-produced +Blue (2016), exploring Brazilian and American cultural identity. In 2019, she released the vinyl single Adriana, winning a major songwriting award for her tracks Three Kings and Sempre Odara.
