Hannah McGuigan

Hannah McGuigan serves as Curriculum Lead for Performance BMus (Hons) and Vocal and Original Ensemble tutor in the Popular Music Department at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). With fifteen years of higher education teaching experience across Bolton University, SSR, and RNCM, she specializes in jazz, soul, pop, vocal technology, and songwriting instruction for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Her research and practice interests span multiple dimensions of contemporary vocal performance and music creation:

• Jazz and soul vocal techniques

Hannah's professional performance career directly informs her pedagogical approach. She has recorded and performed internationally with major artists including The Brand New Heavies, Tony Christie, Nicole Scherzinger, and The Gorillaz, while also creating her own original work under the name 'Taylor Jackson' that has been featured at festivals like Glastonbury and Kendall Calling.

As an educator with substantial industry experience, Hannah brings practical insights into current music industry practices, technology applications, and performance techniques that enrich her students' learning experience and professional preparation.
