Ralph Lasage is a researcher and project manager at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since 2002. He holds a PhD in Community-Based Adaptation (2015) and a Master's in Ecohydrology (2002). His roles include teaching in BSc/MSc programs and providing training for practitioners and government staff in developing countries. Lasage specializes in climate change impacts, adaptation strategies, and vulnerability research with a focus on water resources. He combines global data with local stakeholder knowledge to design adaptive measures that address both community-level and basin-scale challenges.

Research Interests: Climate change adaptation, flood and drought risk management, ecosystem-based solutions, food security, participatory approaches, and stakeholder workshops. His work spans developing (Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Peru) and developed countries, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration between global datasets and localized community priorities.
Projects & Grants: As Principal Investigator, he led the EU FP7-funded projects ENHANCE RTD (2012-2016), RISES-AM (2013-2016), and ADAPTS. These initiatives focused on evaluating adaptation measures in water management, climate risk assessments, and integrating community-based strategies into policy frameworks. His project management spans 15 years and includes international collaborations in vulnerable regions.
Labs & Teams: Works within the IVM's research environment at VU and collaborates with global teams through funded projects. His work involves partnerships with institutions in Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Peru, and Ghana, often involving government agencies and local communities.
