Dr. Paolo Scussolini is an Assistant Professor in the Water and Climate Risk department at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research focuses on climatic changes, hydrology, natural hazards, and climate adaptation, with a particular emphasis on learning from past climates like the Last Interglacial. He leads projects such as the Last Interglacial Floods initiative, using paleo-climate models and geological proxies to reconstruct historical hydrological patterns. His work also addresses socio-economic drivers of flood risk and evaluates climate adaptation strategies.
