Anne van Loon

Dr. Anne van Loon is an Associate Professor in Drought Risk at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) within the Faculty of Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She specializes in interdisciplinary drought and flood risk science, focusing on hydrological processes, human-water interactions, and climate adaptation. Her work integrates quantitative and qualitative methods, including modeling, workshops, and participatory approaches.

Her current projects include the ERC-funded PerfectSTORM project on drought-to-flood disasters, the EU-funded RECEIPT project on climate risk storylines, and collaborations in southern Africa (Connect4WR) and Europe (GDI).
