Rakhi Ruparelia

Rakhi Ruparelia is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa, currently on leave. She holds advanced degrees in science, social work, and law from McGill University, University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and Harvard University.

• Research Interests: Torts, criminal law, critical race theory, and feminist legal theory, focusing on how legal frameworks impact racialized communities and the use of tort law to address racial discrimination.
• Publications: Co-editor of Critical Torts, with recent articles on white resistance in education, juror bias, and the limits of color-blind legal approaches.
• Professional Roles: Former clerk at the Ontario Court of Appeal, director of a community legal clinic for ex-prisoners, and active member in judicial training and equity committees.
