Dr. Amy Salyzyn is an Associate Professor in the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa, and a faculty member at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society. She specializes in legal ethics, lawyer regulation, technology's role in legal services, and access to justice. She teaches Torts and advanced seminars on legal ethics and AI in law.
Education:
- J.S.D., Yale Law School (dissertation on judicial regulation of lawyers)
- LL.M., Yale Law School
- J.D., University of Toronto Law School (recipient of the Dean’s Key)
Professional Background: Former judicial law clerk at the Ontario Court of Appeal, litigation attorney in Toronto, and current Board Chair of the Canadian Association for Legal Ethics.
Research Interests: Explores ethical implications of AI in legal practice, regulatory frameworks for legal professionals, and leveraging technology to improve access to justice. Her work bridges traditional legal ethics with modern technological challenges.
Affiliations: Active in the AI + Society Initiative and contributes to interdisciplinary discussions at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society.
