Rakesh Pandey is an Associate Professor in Accounting and Discipline Leader (Accountability) at the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics (TSBE), University of Tasmania. He is actively involved in research, teaching, and supervision, with a strong focus on social and environmental accountability in organizational reporting.
His research interests include:

Rakesh's recent publications demonstrate a strong trend in sustainability-focused accounting research, particularly in climate change integration in curricula, modern slavery disclosures, biodiversity reporting, and integrated reporting. His work bridges academic rigor with practical implications for policy and corporate practice. He has published in high-quality journals such as Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Business Strategy and the Environment, and Accounting & Finance.
He has secured multiple research grants from the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) and the University of Tasmania, focusing on climate change accounting, SDG integration, and carbon neutrality projects. His teaching includes Financial Accounting, Corporate Governance, and Contemporary Financial Accounting.
Rakesh supervises PhD candidates in areas such as modern slavery compliance, climate change KPIs, biodiversity accounting, and international accounting graduates' employment. He previously served as Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and is a member of AFAANZ and the Centre of Organisational Performance Measurement and Management (COPMM).
