Rahul Rai is the Dean's Distinguished Professor at Clemson University's Department of Automotive Engineering and Director of the Center for Silicon Nanoelectronics. His research develops computational tools for cyber-physical systems, additive manufacturing, and AI-driven design. With over $20M in research funding, his work integrates machine learning with manufacturing processes.
His interdisciplinary research bridges automotive engineering, computer science, and materials science. Current projects include physics-guided ML for predictive maintenance, automated quality assessment in 3D printing, and human-robot collaboration systems. Recent publications focus on optimization algorithms for network design and game-theoretic approaches in manufacturing systems.
Honors include recognition as a White House Champion of Change for Solar Deployment and multiple best paper awards. He leads industry collaborations with automotive manufacturers and Department of Defense research initiatives.
