Chris Paredis is the BMW Endowed Chair in Systems Integration at Clemson University's Department of Automotive Engineering. His research focuses on model-based systems engineering, combining decision theory, information technology, and systems theory to support complex system design.
Research interests include model-based systems engineering with emphasis on SysML integration, decision theory for engineering design, value-driven design methodologies, and digital thread applications. His work bridges theoretical foundations with industrial applications in automotive and manufacturing systems.
Awards highlight interdisciplinary recognition: ASME Fellow (2017), INCOSE Outstanding Service (2014), and Royal Academy of Engineering Distinguished Fellowship (2009). Research contributions span systems engineering methods, simulation architectures, and autonomous vehicle control.
Professional leadership includes former Program Director at NSF (2014-2016), conference chair roles, and editorial positions. Research develops methodologies for managing complexity in cyber-physical systems across automotive, aerospace, and energy domains.
