He earned two advanced degrees in music: a PhD/Artistic Proficiency from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (1986–1988) and another from Azerbaijan National University (1994–1998).
His core research interests lie in Turkish Folk Music interpretation, musicology, and orchestra conducting. These broad yet intertwined areas guide his scholarly inquiry into the historical, cultural, and performative dimensions of Turkic musical traditions.

Collectively, his work underlines a commitment to preserving, analyzing, and transmitting Turkish musical culture through rigorous academic and artistic lenses.
While no specific scientific awards are listed, Prof. Imrani has held numerous administrative posts: Department Chair (2013–2019), Director of the Research Application Centre (2016–), and Vice-Rector (2001–2004), demonstrating sustained leadership in academic governance.
