Rafet Kurt is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. His work focuses on human factors in maritime domains, ship recycling, and circular economy applications. He contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
- Principal Investigator for UK-funded maritime decarbonization projects in Indonesia
- Co-investigator in EU-funded ship recycling initiatives (FP7 DIVEST, LLP Ship DIGEST)
His expertise includes developing noise/vibration response models, safety protocols for autonomous ships, and risk assessment frameworks for LNG bunkering. He has authored 121 research outputs and supervised 15 PhD projects.
