Rachel Potter is a Professor of Modern Literature at the University of East Anglia's School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing. Her academic leadership roles include Director of Research (2021-2022), Head of the Modern and Contemporary Literature Research Group (2016-present), and former Deputy Head of School in the Literature, Drama, and Creative Writing (LDC) faculty. She has held significant grants, including an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) project on non-governmental writers' organizations and freedom of expression. Her research focuses on modernist literature, censorship, and free speech, with notable publications like Obscene Modernism: Literary Censorship and Experiment 1900-1940 (OUP, 2013). She received a Research Fellowship (2015) and has contributed to peer review for journals like Modernism/modernity and Literature and History. Her current project explores literature, internationalism, and free speech during 1921-1948, particularly focusing on PEN International.
