Jos Smith is an Associate Professor in Contemporary Literature at the University of East Anglia's School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing. His research focuses on environmental humanities, literary geographies, and the intersection of literature with environmental movements. He leads the AHRC-funded 'Speculative Nature Writing: Feeling for the Future' project exploring future-oriented nature writing.
Education:
- PhD from University of Exeter (studied emergence of New Nature Writing)
- British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship (focused on Common Ground archives)
Research interests include climate studies, post-war British/Irish poetry, and archipelagic criticism. He co-edited Coastal Works: Cultures of the Atlantic Edge and publishes creative work (poetry collections Subterranea and Sun).
