Professor Rachel Feld is the Director of Academic Computing and Online Learning at MLC, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including Teaching with Technology, Enhancing the Curriculum with Technology, and Google Technologies in Education. She emphasizes pragmatic use of technology to support teaching and learning, advocating for tasks before apps to prioritize student needs over shiny tools.
Her service extends beyond MLC through roles like guest hosting the WELSTech podcast and contributing to WELSSA accreditation tools. Feld holds degrees from MLC (elementary education and choral music) and is nearing completion of her EdD at Concordia University Chicago. She previously taught grades 1-2 at Bethany School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and assisted with drama productions at Shoreland Lutheran High School.
Feld’s research focuses on effective technology integration, collaborative resource-sharing among schools, and innovative roles for technology directors. She balances technical expertise with a passion for Christian education, ensuring her students understand the importance of Christ’s love in teaching. Personal interests include choral singing with Canticum Novum, home automation projects, and a love for sci-fi/fantasy media.
