Rachel C. Lauber is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at the University at Buffalo, where she contributes to the Department of Music’s academic and performance programs. She has held prominent conducting roles with orchestras such as the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra, Livingston Symphony Orchestra, and the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, collaborating with renowned conductors like Neeme Jarvi and Marin Alsop. Her work spans classical and contemporary repertoires, including a Grammy Award-winning production of William Bolcom’s Songs of Innocence and of Experience.

Lauber specializes in orchestral conducting pedagogy, interdisciplinary arts-academic integration, and contemporary music interpretation. Her directorship of the Detroit Symphony’s Unmasked Series highlights her engagement with multimedia and public-facing music education. She has lectured at the University of Michigan’s Mellon Institute on Arts-Academic Integration Initiative (2014–2016), supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
