David Jacobs is an Associate Professor of Orchestral Studies and Conducting at the University of Oregon, where he directs the University Symphony Orchestra and teaches conducting courses. Previously, he served as Music Director of the PBA Symphony at Palm Beach Atlantic University and has guest conducted with prestigious ensembles including the Oregon Music Festival Orchestra, Palm Beach Symphony, and St. Petersburg (Russia) State Symphony Orchestra.

His research and pedagogical work focuses on conducting techniques, orchestral interpretation, and large ensemble performance practices. He founded the Oregon Orchestral Conducting Institute in 2013, a globally recognized intensive workshop for emerging conductors.
Dr. Jacobs has received multiple conducting honors, including the Frederick Fennell Fellowship and Walter Hagen Prize. He has published international repertoire articles and is active in both academic and professional orchestral communities, with performances across North America and Europe.
