Rachel Black is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Foundations at the University of North Texas's College of Visual Arts and Design (CVAD). She has taught core drawing and figure drawing at UNT since 2003 and is an alumna of the university, earning her M.F.A. in Studio Art: Drawing and Painting in 2006. Her professional engagements include involvement in the Sol LeWitt mural project at DFW Airport, creation of a permanent mural at the Texas Forestry Museum, and teaching workshops at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. She has also exhibited her work extensively in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
In 2024, she was selected as one of five artists-in-residence at the Valles Caldera National Preserve in New Mexico, where she explored how art can function as a stewardship method through design thinking.
