Meredith Cawley is a Foundations Lecturer at the University of North Texas (UNT), based in the Department of Art. She holds an M.F.A. in Sculpture from the University of Houston (2016) and a B.F.A. from Sam Houston State University (2012). Her work bridges art and environmental advocacy, drawing from a decade of outreach education at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History.
Her research explores cultural representations of animals and conservation ethics, leveraging interdisciplinary methods. Current projects include an exhibition In Conversation with Tait’s 'In a Tight Fix' at Houston's Box 13 ArtSpace (2023) and a UNT Special Collections Fellowship using the Jim Marrs Archives to craft speculative narratives on biodiversity and interspecies ethics.
Award highlights include the Spring 2024 Certificate of Excellence for Teaching Online ($1,500 stipend) and a 2024 Research Fellowship ($1,000 stipend). Her work has been exhibited alongside Andy Warhol at Fort Worth Contemporary Arts and featured at conferences like the Pop Culture Conference (San Antonio) and FATE Conference (Denver).
