معرفی
Dr Rachel Ainsworth is an early career post-doctoral researcher at the University of Hull's Hull International Fisheries Institute (HIFI) within Biological Sciences. Her research examines inland fisheries' contributions to global food security, fisheries statistics, and environmental footprint modeling compared to alternative food production systems.
Education:
- BSc Marine and Freshwater Biology (2012-2015), University of Hull
- PhD Biological Sciences (2015-2020), University of Hull; Thesis: "Valuation of Global Inland Fisheries Catch to Food Security"
Rachel specializes in fisheries ecology and conservation, developing models to quantify water requirements if inland fisheries were replaced by other food sources. As an IUCN regional assessor, she led Britain's first freshwater fish IUCN assessment and evaluates Favourable Conservation Status for endangered species. Her fieldwork spans fisheries monitoring and environmental impact studies.
Awards:
- Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
Rachel contributes to teaching through lectures and field trip instruction while advancing HIFI's mission in sustainable fisheries research. Her work bridges academic science with practical conservation policy through extensive UK field assessments and international fisheries data analysis.
