Rachael N. Reed is an Assistant Professor of Community Health Sciences and Policy at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Public Health in New Orleans. Her expertise spans community engagement science, social determinants of health, and prevention of lifestyle-related diseases in underserved urban populations. She holds a DrPH from Loma Linda University (2019), an MPH from Georgia Southern University (2012), and a BS in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana (2010).
Her research focuses on achieving health equity through community-centered approaches, particularly addressing maternal health disparities and structural barriers in Gulf South regions. She actively contributes to public health policy through editorial roles at AJPM Focus, APHA bylaws committees, and the Association of Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) Board of Directors.
Recent work includes founding the Southern Center for Maternal Health Equity and presenting at major conferences like APHA Annual Meetings and Teaching Prevention events. Her presentations address vaccine equity, discrimination impacts on health outcomes, and health education benchmarks in Southern U.S. institutions.
