Dr. Rachael Cadman is an Assistant Professor in the Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Science. Her research focuses on Inuit rights, marine conservation, and fisheries governance in Nunatsiavut, Labrador. She emphasizes integrating Indigenous Knowledge into decision-making processes to empower communities in resource management.
Dr. Cadman's work includes collaboration with the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board and other northern partners. She teaches courses like MARA 5012 (Community-Based Co-Management) and MARA 5011 (Contemporary Issues in Ocean Management). Her research explores decolonial approaches to fisheries governance, participatory methodologies, and socio-ecological resilience in Arctic coastal regions.
Notable contributions include studies on Inuit-led fisheries visions, knowledge co-production challenges, and the role of reflexivity in equitable research partnerships.
