R. Sathyanarayanan is a Researcher at the French School of the Far East, Centre of Indology, based in Pondicherry, India. He has held this position since 1991 and specializes in Śaiva Siddhānta, Sanskrit literature, and epigraphy. His academic affiliations include the University of Madras and Pondicherry University.

Notably, he coedited the Pañcāvaraṇastava and Dhyānaratnāvalī, and authored the first critical edition of the Prāyaścittasamuccaya. Current projects include translating the Siddhāntadīpikā and collaborating on the NETamil initiative to catalog Tamil manuscripts.
