R. Daniel Dahlen is an Executive-in-Residence and Associate Professor of Instruction in Marketing at Ohio University's College of Business. He serves as Coordinator for Alumni Relations and Outreach, and Founding Director of the Consumer Research Center. His career spans over four decades in advertising and marketing, including pivotal roles at Wendy’s (creator of the 'Where's the Beef?' campaign) and Subway (pioneer of the Jared Fogle campaign). He holds a BSJ in Advertising (Ohio University, 1976) and an MSA in Sports Administration (Ohio University, 2016).

His research interests focus on consumer behavior, brand strategy, and advertising effectiveness. He has advised major corporations like Rally’s and Shoney’s as CMO and led global accounts at agencies such as J. Walter Thompson. Dahlen is also CEO of dahlen communications, a branding agency, and serves on three boards: OHIO's J-School Advisory Board, the Beta Housing Corporation, and Jill’s Wish Foundation.
Notably honored as one of Advertising Age’s '100 Brightest Ad Clients,' Dahlen’s work has shaped iconic campaigns. His professional journey includes roles at Nielsen (supervising the Restaurant Sector) and Publicis & Hal Riney. He and his wife reside in Columbus, Ohio, with three children, seven grandchildren, and two pugs.
