Quintin Rares is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney Business School, where he coordinates the Business Negotiations unit of study. Previously, he was a lecturer in Evidence Law at the University of Sydney Law School, contributing to seven courses across both the Law and Business Schools at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has taught at the University since 2009 and holds Honours in both Law and Commerce degrees from Sydney University, ranking first in eleven courses. His interdisciplinary research spans business strategy, law, psychology, and history, with notable contributions including the world's first interactive digital textbook for university courses.
Quintin has been recognized with nine teaching citations and the prestigious Wayne Lonergan Award for Outstanding Teaching. His educational background includes studies at institutions such as Stanford University, Zhejiang University, and Ritsumeikan University, reflecting his global academic perspective. Professionally, he has worked in law firms across Australia, Canada, and China, as well as in business and the Australian Government. He is currently a practicing barrister at Wentworth Selborne Chambers.
His research focuses on negotiation science, maritime law, and psychological influences on legal decision-making. Recent publications include works on marine insurance, mediation psychology, and virtual dispute resolution. He frequently presents at legal and academic conferences, emphasizing practical applications of legal theory.
