Qiuyan Yuan

Qiuyan Yuan is Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba's Price Faculty of Engineering. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Manitoba and BSc in Food Science Engineering from Beijing Agricultural University.

Her research develops sustainable technologies for wastewater treatment and solid waste management, focusing on nutrient removal/recovery, landfill leachate treatment, anaerobic digestion, and value-added product development with emphasis on reducing environmental burden and carbon footprint.

Her recent publications demonstrate strong focus on resource recovery from waste streams, novel treatment processes for landfill leachate, and sustainable material development. She received the University of Manitoba Merit Award (2018) and Terry G. Falconer Emerging Researcher Award (2019).

She leads research on anaerobic digestion optimization, landfill biocover systems, and circular economy approaches to waste management.
