Dr Páraic Ryan is a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering at University College Cork (UCC) and a Conjoint Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He holds a BE from NUIG, MSc and PGDip from Trinity College Dublin, and a PhD in Engineering from TCD. His research focuses on risk modeling, climate adaptation, infrastructure resilience, and environmental health risks. He leads major projects including the €16M SFI NexSys initiative for net-zero energy transition and the EPA-funded PESTMAN environmental risk assessment project.

Research explores climate impacts on infrastructure, probabilistic cost-benefit analysis, and material durability. Active in industry collaboration with ESB, TII, and Irish Water. Serves on IABSE Task Group 6.1 addressing climate change effects, and editorial boards for journals like Frontiers of the Built Environment. Teaches modules in surveying, structural mechanics, and BIM visualization at UCC.
Recognized through teaching excellence nomination and invited presentations to national infrastructure stakeholders. Coordinates UCC’s Engineering Transition Year Programme.
